When this Privacy Policy applies
This Privacy Policy applies when you visit the website, create a learner account, log in, access PageTurners, use your learner dashboard, complete learning activities, contact us or interact with other functions of the platform.
Separate privacy information may be provided where a specific Erasmus+ activity, event, pilot activity, questionnaire, research process or project activity requires additional personal data processing.
Categories of personal data
The personal data processed depends on how you use the platform and which functions you access.
Account and registration data
Information submitted when creating or managing a learner account, such as your name, username, email address and other information requested by the registration form.
Authentication data
Information needed to manage login and account security. Passwords are intended to be protected through appropriate technical security measures rather than stored as readable plain text.
Learning and course data
Information connected with PageTurners access and participation, such as enrolment, lesson progress, completed activities, quiz results, completion status and other learning records where these functions are enabled.
Technical and log data
Technical information such as IP address, browser type, device information, access time, requested pages, error information and security logs may be processed when you use the website.
Communication data
Information you provide when contacting us, requesting support or communicating about your account, PageTurners access or learning activities.
Cookie and preference data
Information about cookie preferences, consent choices and related technical records may be processed through the website’s consent management system.
Purposes of processing
Provide platform access
To create and manage learner accounts, support login and provide access to the learning environment.
Deliver PageTurners
To provide access to PageTurners, lessons, activities, learning materials and other enabled educational functions.
Support learning progress
To record progress and allow learners to continue their learning where course tracking functions are enabled.
Maintain security
To prevent misuse, protect accounts, investigate technical problems and maintain the security and integrity of the platform.
Provide support
To answer questions, resolve account problems and respond to requests concerning access to the platform or PageTurners.
Manage preferences
To remember privacy and cookie choices and manage consent where consent is required.
Meet legal obligations
To comply with applicable legal, regulatory, security or data protection obligations.
Improve the service
Where legally permitted, to understand technical performance, identify problems and improve accessibility and functionality.
Our legal basis for processing
We process personal data only where an appropriate legal basis applies. Depending on the specific purpose, processing may rely on one or more of the following legal bases:
Performance of a contract
Where processing is necessary to provide a service you request, such as creating and managing access to your learner account and learning environment.
Legitimate interests
Where processing is necessary for legitimate interests such as website security, fraud prevention, service administration, troubleshooting and appropriate improvement of the platform, provided those interests are not overridden by your rights and freedoms.
Legal obligation
Where processing is necessary to comply with an obligation imposed by applicable law.
Consent
Where you have freely given consent for a specific purpose, for example where consent is required for non-essential cookies or another optional processing activity.
Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw that consent at any time. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before consent was withdrawn.
Registration, login and dashboard use
When you register for a learner account, we process information needed to create, administer and secure that account.
After logging in, information about your access to PageTurners and your learning activity may be associated with your account where the platform’s course tracking functions are enabled.
You are responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and for notifying us if you believe your account has been accessed without authorisation.
Data processed during course participation
PageTurners is a self-paced online learning course. Depending on the functions enabled on the platform, we may process information about course access, lesson completion, activity participation, quiz results and overall progress.
This information is used to operate the learning environment, allow learners to continue their course and provide enabled learning functions.
We do not ask learners to submit special categories of personal data as part of ordinary course participation unless a separate activity clearly explains why such information is required and identifies an appropriate legal basis.
Privacy of children and young people
This educational platform and the PageTurners course may be relevant to young people. We recognise that personal data relating to children and young people requires particular care and clear information.
We aim to collect only information that is reasonably necessary for account administration, learning access, security and enabled educational functions.
Where consent is relied upon as the legal basis for an online service offered directly to a child, applicable age and parental authorisation requirements will be respected.
Parents, guardians and young users may contact the PageTurners Erasmus+ project team using the privacy contact details in this policy if they have questions about personal data processing.
How cookies are used
The website may use cookies and similar technologies for functions such as security, login sessions, language preferences, consent management and other website features.
Where non-essential cookies or similar technologies require consent, they should not be activated until an appropriate consent choice has been made.
You can use the cookie consent controls available on the website to manage your preferences. More detailed information is available in our Cookie Policy.

Service providers should process personal data only for authorised purposes and subject to appropriate contractual, confidentiality and security requirements where required by law.
Project partners and educational cooperation
The platform contains educational resources developed through the PageTurners Erasmus+ project and European cooperation activities.
The fact that an organisation is a PageTurners or Erasmus+ project partner does not automatically mean that it receives personal data from learner accounts.
Personal data will only be shared with a project partner or another organisation where there is a defined purpose, an appropriate legal basis and any other safeguards required by applicable law.
Processing outside the European Economic Area
Some technical service providers may process personal data in countries outside the European Economic Area.
Where personal data is transferred internationally, appropriate steps are taken as required by applicable data protection law. Depending on the circumstances, safeguards may include an adequacy decision, approved Standard Contractual Clauses or another legally recognised transfer mechanism.
Data retention
Personal data is retained only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes for which it was collected, subject to applicable legal, contractual, security and accountability requirements.
Active account data
Generally retained while an account remains active and for an appropriate period afterwards where necessary for administration, security or legal obligations.
Learning records
Retained for the period necessary to provide learning functions and support appropriate PageTurners course administration.
Technical and security logs
Retained for an appropriate limited period based on security, troubleshooting and technical requirements.

You have the right to lodge a complaint with a competent data protection supervisory authority if you believe that the processing of your personal data infringes applicable data protection law.

Information needed to use the platform
Some personal data is necessary to create and manage a learner account, authenticate users, provide requested PageTurners learning functions or maintain platform security.
Where required information is not provided, it may not be possible to create an account, log in, access particular functions or provide the requested service.
Optional information will be identified as optional where appropriate.
Profiling and automated decisions
We do not currently use learner data to make decisions based solely on automated processing that produce legal effects or similarly significant effects on individuals.
If this changes, we will provide appropriate information about the logic involved, the significance and the expected consequences of such processing where required by law.
How we protect personal data
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures intended to protect personal data against accidental or unlawful destruction, loss, alteration, unauthorised disclosure or unauthorised access.
Security measures are reviewed in light of the nature of the processing, available technology, risks and operational requirements.
No internet-based system can guarantee absolute security. Users should also protect their passwords and account credentials and contact us if they suspect unauthorised access.
Links to third-party content
The platform may contain links to external websites, Erasmus+ project resources or third-party services.
External websites operate under their own privacy practices and policies. We encourage users to review the privacy information provided by those services before submitting personal data.
Updates to the Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when the platform, processing activities, service providers or applicable legal requirements change.
The date shown at the top of this page indicates when the policy was last updated. Significant changes may be communicated through the website or another appropriate method where required.
